The Ministry of Economic Affairs has earmarked the Maintenance sector in its "Pieken in de Delta" programme. The World Class Maintenance programme is a direct result of this and is supported by the Southern provinces of the Netherlands and the European fund for regional development (EFRO).

The government, education, and entrepreneurs are dedicated to upgrading the Maintenance sector to a World Class level. Through different projects and consortia people are working hard at the programme which will result in World Class Maintenance in the Netherlands and focuses on the aviation, energy, infrastructure, maritime and process industries.
